Attacking the Person πŸ—‘πŸ‘ΆπŸΎ

Argumentum ad Hominem

You have arrived on a new city, enter to the Club met with a guy, talks a lot, drink a lot of Bears together, grab some prostitutes together then spent rest of Night separately. Well, A week passed you move to the Church/Mosque and met with the same guy, now he is your religious leader, guide you the way to Heaven. Fallacy is not to believe the way to Heaven for the reason of what happened last week. hahah… In fact, the way to Heaven Itself ( just if you believe such a place exist ) has nothing to do with preachers actions, many can preach it, but only few can walk it. Welcome to Augmentum ad Hominem.

Statement … πŸŽ™
You and your fellow colleague had an opportunity to attend one of the Business Event and one of the guest stood up and gave a wonderful speech on available Investments in Country and how a person can engage with the available opportunities. Well you get curious, you paid attention and take some notes. At closure of session you turn to your fellow and tell him, “… I think the guy has give a good speech to test and act upon …” by surprise your fellow reply naively “… huyu jamaa amewahi kulala njaa kweli, kwanza baba ake ana sheli kibao na migodi. Huyu jamaa hajui nini maana ya shida. …” and the guy goes on. If you are a reasonable person, you stay calm, turn down to your notes and deeply ask yourself. What the F@#k is wrong with this dude.? Does he have some personal vendetta with the speaker or what ?!!

The Fallacy …
Validity of the argument has nothing to do with the personal character.
So, if someone from rich family will give you a useful clue it will be applicable the same applies, if someone from poor family can give you a useful clue also, vice versa is true, you can have trash advice from a rich or poor person.

The Alternative …
Validity of arguments have to come from argument itself and other arguments support the proposed argument. Sometimes it’s tough to deal with that reality, especially when the speaking individual is either too poor or rich with your reference.

Back to the statement … πŸ—£
So your friend get annoyed when he new personal attributes of the speaker. Then he unveiled a massive wealth gap between speakers family and his, he turned anxious and attacked speaker’s personal attributes instead of capture and validate the speech itself. Its seems an easy thing but to be honest most of us suck at that arena. Let see how, …

Back to business … πŸ’°
Let say you quit your job ( Don’t Try This At Home Or Do It If and Only If You Are Insane Enough to Make Your Own Sense, Coz I bet Most Of Us Don’t have Any Sense … ), you quit your job to start your own company. Let say you have started Construction Company, 6 Months has passed, 99% of your deals have been turned down, your reserve is over, you are angry and stressed. So, your bebe saw you and feel really sorry for you and eventually she came across a seminar event for Business Management and she purchased a ticket for you to go there. Then you arrived at the conference, but you have arrived tired coz you even hustled to manage yourself to reach there. And boom, you see the speaking delegate contain top leaders and MDs whom they turn down almost all of your deals, they get warmly welcomed and sit on the high table. Your feelings jumped to the roof, now you are thinking should I stay or live for good, but bebe paid for this, and there is super lunch and drinks, after all these guys are mean, greedy people, who don’t care about anything, I will wait for Dinner and disappear. When your senses arrives, one speaker has almost finish the speech and all you get is your personal and emotional attacks.

Conclusion …
Reality is it requires a lot of practice & reasonable degree of emotional control to handle various issues, otherwise it will be impossible for us, as Next Businessmen or Businesswomen to handle some issues, and one way of moving forward is to separate our personal and emotional attacks with actual facts and clues from certain individuals we communicate with. And doing that can sometimes makes us look like psychotic robots Or aliens from planet Z but it’s a necessary transformation.
